How to Create and Approve Open Shifts

Utilize Open Shifts within the Schedule feature on Homebase for employees to pick up extra shifts which are unassigned on the published Schedule.

Here is how to create an Open Shift:

1.) Log in to Homebase at joinhomebase.com

2.) Select “Schedule” on the left-hand navigation bar.

3.) On any day, click the “Add+” button to create a new shift.

4.) Create the shift and click “Add To Schedule“.

5.) “Publish” at the top right of the Schedule page.

6.) Choose to send notifications to employees.

Your employees will then be notified via email, text, and push notification and given the opportunity to claim the Open Shift. Click here to read the article for employees on how to Claim an Open Shift.

 

Here is how to approve an Open Shift that was claimed:

From the Web:

1.) Log in to Homebase at joinhomebase.com

2.) Select “Schedule” on the left-hand navigation bar.

3.) At the top of the Schedule Builder next to the Open Shifts column, the shift which was claimed will appear.

4.) Click the shift, and in the drop down, select the employee name who should be given the shift and select the green button to Approve the Shift Claim.

From the iPhone mobile app:

1.) Download the Homebase app from the App Store > Sign in.

2.) From the Dashboard view, click the notification that action is required to accept or decline the Open Shift Claim.

3.) Select the employee who you would like to pick up the Open Shift.

4.) The Open Shift will then be assigned to the employee and the changes will appear on the Schedule automatically.

From the Android mobile app:

1.) Download the Homebase app from the Google Play Store > Sign in.
